Raised in Spain and based in San Diego, Benjamin Myers uses artistic expression as a medium for communication. From music and drawing to cooking and design, for him, art is a skillset that he pours into nearly every facet of his life. While working as a graphic designer, the pandemic hit along with a dose of apathy causing Benjamin to seek an outlet that could transform complacency into creativity. Having no background in leatherwork, Benjamin picked up a needle and thread and made his first leather wallet. In just over a year, the designer has produced handmade quivers, belts, wallets, bracelets, guitar straps, totes, journal covers, and beyond. Under the brand "Buckeye Leather,” the hobby-turned-business has not only caught the eye of fashion-forward clients, but it has awakened the spirit of an artist who has left his mark on the world, one poetic stitch at a time.
